Short trading week. Stock indices made highs on lighter volume. Next week will also be short with lighter volume.
All eyes are watching government bonds for higher interest rates. Highest spread EVER between the different terms, which indicates people don't want the longer terms. The only group buying government debt appears to be the Federal Reserve cartel.
Weekly gold closed over 1100.
After markets closed for the week, tax cheat Tim Geithner of the Treasury said Fannie & Freddie will have an unlimited backstop (raised to unlimited from $200 billion).

There was great enthusiasm with the labor unemployment report, though the enthusiasm did not turn into 500+ point up day.
The dollar went up over a point and metals took a big hit. Metal and mining stocks too big hits which kept the indices from printing bigger gains. For setting up higher sustainable gold prices, this gold pullback is healthy.

Largely overlooked was the news of Dubai World creditors refusing delays on interest payments. This will cause issues to the issuers of the CDS "insurance" that is backing the debt.

GLD 119.21 +1.83. A weekly close above 1254 and gold may start moving up $100 per day. Mainstream talk is turning toward being bullish gold. Is anyone bearish gold? It would be long-term bullish if gold first pulls back to 1050s before going above 1254.
